Temporary Strainers
Strainers provide the most simple and efficient means of protection to process pipeline systems for the removal and retainment of damaging and harmful contamination such as dirt, swarf, weld spatter, scale, fibres, lint, etc. Basically Strainers are categorised as either being a ‘Temporary’ or ‘Permanent’ Strainer.
Temporary Strainers are designed for temporary or short periods of operation, for example, during commissioning and initial start up periods of new or reconditioned process lines to remove any course debris such as rags, welding rods, pipe scale, rust etc, accidentally or unavoidably present within a system. After a nominal period of operation they are usually replaced with a permanent strainer of a finer retention.
GFSA designs and manufactures three types of temporary strainers:
- Flat Disc or sometimes known as the “Tennis Bat Strainer”
- Witch Hat Conical Basket Strainer
- Top Hat Conical Basket Strainer
We also make specials to suit customer requirements and also to refurbish or recycle existing customer units. Sizes range from ¾” (20mm) n.b. to 48” (1200mm) n.b. with pressure ratings upto 600LB as standard and specials upto 2500LB. Flange facings include: flat, serrated, ring joint, male and female, and tongue and groove. Materials of construction range from carbon steel, various grades of stainless steel to high performance exotic materials such as Duplex Stainless Steel, 6Mo Stainless Steel, Monel, Inconel, Titanium etc.
